New to SC. I used to fish quite a bit in the past and I have been considering the purchase of another boat.
But I have found that the two lakes closest to me both charge fees for boater yearly of nearly $200 each to put your boat in the water.
In the last state I lived in there were no such fees that I found
Just curious, just how many lakes in SC need permits money-wise to use your boat for fishing? This could get expensive.

The large public lakes that 95% of fisherman use in SC charge no such fees. What lakes are you referring too?

Oh and it appears to me that the fees are for each lake and vary vs. One fee for Spartangurg County.

Where are you getting these fees? Cost us 10 bucks to put in a couple of years ago on Lyman. I couldnt find anything with prices like on the Spartanburg parks website.

This is what I found for Lake Bowen regarding a seaonal permit and living right next to but not in Spartanburg County the fees for boating are as follows:

https://www.spartanburgwater.org/fil...29_Revised.pdf

And here is what I found about Lake Lyman:

https://www.sjwd.com/recreation/what...to-know-about/

So as a state resident my fees for the season would be $200 for Lake Bowen and $120 for Lake Lyman.

This is their justification for the fees https://www.spartanburgwater.org/fil...site_FINAL.pdf

I am sure that the fees are justified in one way or another.
Lyman launch ramp is just some 5 miles from my house so it is convienient and Bowen is just some 20 miles.
Moved here from AZ following my son's family and his job. At least lakes are abundant here and not far away like they were in AZ.
So many lakes to explore here.
