Hello

I have a potential job offer in Senca, SC. I am originally from PA and recenly spent a year in Charlotte. I enjoy the southern weather as I am an outdoor enthusiast and like the fact that I can run outdoors year round without any difficulty.

However, my main concern is that I will be moving to an area where there will be little potential if any to meet other singles in my age group. Many of the posts I have read are those who are retiring or have families. The area mainly fascinates me because of the proximity to table rock mountain and the plethora of trails in upstate SC. I love the outdoors but I like to enjoy them with other people. I am torn between moving back to PA to be close to my family with less of a job market or make a jump further away from them in order to pursue my career path of choice. I am just so afraid to start off alone......any input greatly appreciated.....

Well I guess that answers my question? Seneca has little to offer for a person like me? What about Clemson down the road?

sarahsviolets,

Seneca/Oconee county are beautiful areas of South Carolina. Outdoor activities are abundant (Lake Keowee/Jocassee, NC mountains, waterfalls, hiking/biking, etc). However, the "singles life" is lacking. I worked with a young colleague (in his late 20's) several years ago. He regularly made trips to Clemson for the singles scene there.

In summary, Seneca and the surrounding area much more geared for those with families, retirees, and those who are just "settled".

Now, Clemson is short commute to Seneca and would probably be a much better area for you.

Take care

Just some advice, while I always felt VERY safe in upstate SC, I wouldn't travel from Seneca to Clemson alone for bar purposes... I'd make sure to travel in packs...

Hopefully, you'll meet at least one friend who wouldn't mind traveling along...

When I lived in Spartanburg, my friends and I had to travel to go out as well... It was actually a little more fun being outside of town... like an event instead of just something you get used to after time....

Best of luck!
