Wow, this is awful. I am so sorry. Find out what the chain of command is or what the appeal process is. You may have to appeal to the school board, but, I do not know.
You can call the Greenville County Schools Coordinator of Student Assignment at (864) 355-7266 to appeal. I believe it is still Ed Coles. I had to do this personally a few years ago and Ed was great to work with.
My family has the same issue, we live a little closer to EW but it's still 10 miles or 1.5 to Plain Elementary.
After about 7 years of driving to school and back (since the bus picked up at 6AM), we were able to get into Plain. But after a year of Plain we decided to do K-12 virtual school.
Plain should have a re-assignment day in late winter. First come first served. Some schools have gone to a lottery, not sure if Plain is one of those. I know Ralph Chandler Middle School did.

That is just a result of all the growth in Simpsonville. Same thing happens with the high schools where people less than 2 miles from Hillcrest are instead zoned for Woodmont, which is much further away.
