I buy my meats primarily at Ingle's, secondarily at Publix, then at The Fresh Market.
Bi-Lo is not what is used to be indeed.
I never tried the meat department at Bloom. The chain was nothing more than a glorified upscale Food Lion unable to compete against Bi-Lo, Ingle's, Publix, and Walmart.
Cherrydale, a few times, since we were living near downtown. We are now closer to the Mauldin one, which would be my preference. I've only been in there once, but, it was nice.

Will this strategy be enough to revive business and enhance sales? Remains to be seen. However, this same low price formula worked very well for Food Lion back in the 1980's and was once their core identity.
It would now seem as if Bi-Lo/Winn Dixie is attempting to lead in the lower price segment, while leaving the upscale market to Publix and Harris Teeter. And to introduce this new concept, they have adopted a bouncy new jingle borrowed from Dolly Parton's "9 To 5", seemingly featuring real life employees dancing around the store in a new TV commercial.
This can't possibly be a long-term solution, with Lidl on the horizon.
The "store employees" are paid. Some real employees may have been paid to appear as extras, but anyone featured was probably hired by the agency that produced the commercial from a pool of actors.

Also how much did they pay Dolly for the use of that tune? Why don't they take that money and invest it in their stores and pricing.

Ingle's #69, Cherrydale Point (1500 Poinsett Highway Greenville, South Carolina 29609-2929), is constantly busy. It and store 32 (1335 Stallings Road, Greenville, South Carolina 29609-6946) do more business than Bi-Lo #5608 (2111 North Pleasantburg Drive, Greenville, South Carolina 29609-3136).
Ingle's #42 (Whatley Square, 116 West Butler Road, Mauldin, SC 29662-2535) is a nice store indeed. It is planned for improvements and addition of a pharmacy department. I do not know if this will be done through a remodel or a rebuild.

If Dolly still has the copyright on 9-5 they paid big bucks to add stupid lyrics to the music. That commercial is nearly as atrocious as the series of Food Lion ads with the damned lion.
Grocery ads should be functional or thematic like the Publix ads. Ingles sort of combines the two, as does Aldi. Big production commercials are costly, so they are a big fail for grocery ads.

At Aldi I've seen them stocking pork from Smithfield boxes. The chicken is Tyson.

Thank you. We have only purchased meat at Aldi while living in Oklahoma, and I did not care for it. We moved from there two years ago, and although I shop at the Aldi on Woodruff, I have not tried their meat. I find better deals at Bi-Lo.
Gas is $1.51 in Mauldin. Diesel about $2 from its high near $4; prices should be coming down with that decline and not just at Bi-Lo.
