Forecasters were way off with temperatures today. Was supposed to hit 60 but apparently that cold wedge made its way down and kept it in the 40s all day. Not a big deal but we had a little bit of sleet around 2 pm at my house near Five Forks before changing to rain again. Was surprised since it was supposed to be warm today.
Did hit 60 before midnight? If so, technically, they were right. I know it felt warmer at 1am than it did all day.
There was a 21 degree difference between Spartanburg and Charlotte the other evening!
Also on Monday there’s a slight chance of lite mixed precip. Probability models show even if we got freezing rain it would be very lite at this time with minimal to no impacts. We’ll watch to see if that changes any.
This ones...tricky. Stalls out / slows down and weakens considerably at some point well S of here, that effect timings and eventual track and shape of storm as wind shear and dry air attack it at some point.
But, in general looks like Saturday the main day. Maybe rain start late Friday, end Sunday. Closer to NC/SC line could see a lot as up-slope rain effect rings out additional moisture.
Winds look overall below concern here at this time, but occasional gust could be just enough to cause some tree/power issues in area. Not looking wide spread at the moment but close enough to the usual line of no real problem / problems we typ see, so watch for any changes.
Tornadoes typ a threat if center goes just West of here but the bad shape of storm and cooler temps may keep threat low, but again something to keep an eye on for now.
This assumes it move up generally towards this area or into N GA just W of here. Further East likely less effects then that.
My own opinion tho.
If you travel to the SC coast they'll have some coastal flooding issues this week with onshore winds from all this. fyi.
The latest Weather Channel track has tropical depression Ian directly over Greenville area at 2AM Friday morning. Winds @ 30 mph.
