Just saw this billboard going down Church St. before the bridge, paid for by the Augusta Visitor's Bureau with downtown Greenville's skyline in the backdrop behind the billboard. I thought some would get a kick out of this. They are targeting Greenville and Greenville is targeting Atlanta and Charlotte. Interesting! Good luck getting Greenvillians to Augusta unless its for the Masters. Greenville has so many amenities.
I don't care if they put up 50 billboards. It won't make me any more likely to visit the city than before. No offense, but Augusta is boring. Here is a news story on this: http://chronicle.augusta.com/stories/090808/yrb_472207.shtml (broken link) Suprised they're targeting Greenville instead of Atlanta.
Hey why is there an ugly billboard in front of my pretty Greenville skyline
Well Ill tell you this, they do know what city to come to for good people, unfortunately for them, people like an actual city like Greenville better.
I take it as a compliment. I have a aunt whom was here last weekend, she hails from the Edgefield area which is in Augusta's metro area. I asked her which does she prefer and she said Greenville was lots better than Augusta and was much bigger and nicer.
Sort of related, but I recently saw a billboard for Big O Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep right in front of the Jeep dealership in Easley. I thought that was rather cheeky.

That is funny! I brought this up because some of the Augusta folk were trying to compare Augusta to Greenville and I knew some who were involved would get a kick out of it. The only problem with this ad is that Greenville has so much more amenities than Augusta why would anyone find a reason to leave other than to see the Masters.
Augusta can be fun, its just less developed than Greenville, there are some nice areas there though, I spent two months there training for my job here, driving back and forth every week. The downtown area is nowheresville, but the surrounding areas have their charm.
P.S. moton,I get where your aunt is coming from, I got a ticket in Edgefield, cute little town, but man that really is nowheresville!
