Cool Downtown Greek Festival. May 14th-17th.

Who says Greenville isn't diverse?

Greek Festival Greenville, South Carolina

Saint George Greek Orthodox Cathedral of Greenville, South Carolina presents their 23nd annual Greek Festival May 14th - 17th in Downtown Greenville. For four fun-filled days, Greenville becomes “Greekville” as the magic of Greece comes to town. Located Downtown across from the old Greenville County Library off Academy Street. This “Glendi” or party will begin on Thursday, May 15th with authentic Greek meals served in the Church’s Hellenic Center during lunch and dinner. Take-out orders for food and pastries will also be available throughout the weekend. This year, special drive-thru lanes on Elford Street will also be available for take-out meals Thursday through Saturday; and FAX orders will be accepted for lunch both Thursday and Friday. All outside activities begin Friday and continue through Sunday evening in our expanded facilities offering twice the fun, food and festivities.

Our amphitheater will offer live Greek music and traditional folk dancing throughout the weekend. Dancers dressed in traditional costumes of the various regions and islands of Greece will perform authentic dances. Mouth-watering native Greek food will be abundant including such favorites as roast lamb, chicken, dolmathes, pastichio, mousaka, spanokopita, triopita and Greek salad. Outdoor food booths will feature gyros, souvlakia, Greek fries, sausages and flaming sanganaki cheese! Be sure to stop by the Kafenion for authentic Greek coffee and pastries including our famous baklava.

In addition to the food, we will explore the rich culture that only Greece has to offer. Hourly tours of our beautiful Greek Orthodox Cathedral will explore the mystical symbolism and history of the Eastern Orthodox faith. Discover this ancient Christian religion that dates back to 33 AD. See our beautiful mosaics and icons to learn the roles they play in the Church. Booths will offer imported jewelry, arts and crafts from Greece for you to take home. A children’s ride area will ensure the entire family enjoys their virtual visit to this ancient land.

Free parking will be located at several locations adjacent to the Festival site and the downtown trolley will be offering rides to the Festival throughout the weekend

Someone who's very ignorant of Greenville. For a smaller market we're very diverse. Being 1/2 Greek, my dad volunteered there last year, but unfortunately I dropped him off at the airport last night, as he'll be on a month long Greek festival, in Greece.
The Greek festival here is awesome, I encourage everyone to check it out and have some food and culture.

My husband and I, neither Greek, LOVE this festival! We drive up from Greenwood each year. The people, the food, the music...it is a REAL TREAT! If you haven't been to this festival, don't miss out this year. I especially like the flaming cheese. Hey, organizers, if you are reading this, advertise exactly where the pastries will be sold. Hopefully there will be a nice variety of different kinds this year
