My beautiful 25 year old niece was killed in a car accident yesterday. Her family is still in shock but they are devastated. My family is too. I don't know what else to say. I can't sleep and the grief is literally a physical pain. We just buried our mother six weeks ago. I feel as if I'm losing my grip on reality.

Must hold it together to get my sister and her family through this. I'm very concerned about her. Sorry if this post is pointless. Just needed to make contact with people who would understand.

No matter what others say or do, it will take about five years for the family to regroup. It's a long and difficult process for anyone to have to go through. Simple signs and acts of continuing friendship are probably the biggest help. And don't be afraid of humor. Even grieving people need to share a laugh now and then.

Your sister and family are going to go through many emotions. Loss, anger, depression, hysteria, etc. All I can say is be patient with them and expect a wide arrangement of emotions. Be supportive and lend a hand if you can. You take care of yourself and your family. Sorry for your loss.

I'm sorry for your losses. One loss is a challenge, but more than one in a short time...

Keep talking with people, find a local support group, do whatever you need to care for yourself.
