I bought one of these a couple of years ago. It was a cheap OTF knife that is sold at most flea markets for 10 bucks. Now on line I see they are out of stock every where and the price runs from 40 to 70 bucks now. What gives on these? Is it just on line or are the flea markets also out or high priced? I can't check till this week end but its very odd.
A bust sounds like a good guess. Obama admin has been frustrated in its inability to ban guns, so has compensated by going after imported knives, which it has the power to do.
I had picked them up at my local flea markets for 10 bucks sometimes less. I gave a few away and kept one.. Now I see they are getting great reviews and the torture tests show they are tough and do not fail. I found one place on line that has them for 19.99 shipped and it seems to have them instock. I may wait and hit the flea market to see what I can pick up there tomorrow. Great knife. I can not see paying 300 bucks for a knife that does little more than a 20 dollar one.
Do you mean "assisted opening" knifes? Amazon has a ton of them. Check Kershaw, excellent quality. Legal to carry in most municipalities. The Kershaw Blur gets an excellent review and it's one of my primary EDC knife's.
I picked up a few today at the local flea market. Some people wanted 40 bucks each, but I found a vendor who sold them for 17 each for out the front, Rumble, and 19 for a lightning. He even gave me a spring assist for free. I was told that the Fed is making it hard to import them and that is why they are drying up.
Years ago I wanted to get a microtech UTX-70 (IIRC) which is a small double action OTF similar in operation to this one. A few purveyors told me that it was reasonably reliable and durable. I use my pocket knife a fair amount at work. I figured this would be the absolute fastest way to get a knife out, make the cut, and return it to the pocket.
I thought about it, but decided against it since it is technically illegal in my state (WA). The last thing I need is somebody who decides they don't like me going to HR to complain about me using a 'switchblade' at work.
