I FINALLY made it to having enough disposable income to start getting a CCW permit and Purchasing those items that I have been talking about for years.
Yesterday, I got a good Concealed starter pistol. Some of you Experts and pros may laugh, but remember, I have not been shooting or purchasing regularly in years.
I decided 2 years ago to stock up on AMMO. (Found out the old lady was hiding cash in case of a SHTF scenario) .... And That is a statement because she is the least paranoid type I have ever met.
Anyway I am the owner a a Taurus 9mm G2C Now I know, I know, there are regulars on here who will say "Ah well I own 10 Taurus's, 20 Glocks, a sig Saurer and 5 dozen smith and wessons...". [mod cut]
A year ago, we purchased a .22 rifle which has sat in the case locked up, The idea was that my son, turning 19, needs to finally get away from his computer and learn how to shoot. He also loves the outdoors (which sucks because of where we live) but often talks about wanting to live somewhere where he can hunt, fish, etc I felt like the .22 rifle would be a good start for him. We can progress from there.
Keep in mind, I hunter deer from age 12 with an open sight, 30/30 lever action rifle. None of the bolt actions with fancy scopes for me.
.
That Taurus has a 22 TX in the similar form factor for around $300. I might suggest getting that for your 22 pistol for consistency.
My TX has a double stack and is great for target practice that only lacks the kick of my G2s. I went with a G2s instead of the c because of a deal and weight and size, and got the TX primarily to keep my skills up without worrying about shortages or cost. However, the TX has turned out to be a nice "around the property" varmint dissuader.
I have never fired a Taurus, let us know how it does. I carry a Ruger LCP 2 380. In a sticky holster it will fit in the front pocket of my blue jeans and is not noticeable. Would rather have had a 9, but no one makes one that small.
No personal experience with Taurus but is supposed to be a good value gun. I have a Walther PPS M2 and PSA Dagger. Going to the range tomorrow to shoot both. Love the Dagger.

i remember long long ago, there was a nice little Beretta 21A in .22 We had one, but the ex got it along with the cats when we divorced....
(one of the cats had an issue with peeing everywhere but in the cat box so good riddance)
I like the Taurus because it is an established brand, at least it was around and making good products while I was in college so I felt comfortable buying it after the reviews.
While someday I would like the glock, They are much pricier. But Glock owners seem to love them.

Look at SCCY 9mm's. same size, much better. I would also reccoment a KelTec P11 if you can find one.

Had bad luck with a SCCY 9 mm. The slide was so hard to rack that my wife could not do it. Then I tried and I couldn't rack it. Two other guys at the range could not do it either. Contacted the company and the rep got hateful and refused to help. Took it back to the gun store and he could not do it either. But since the company would do nothing, only got a partial refund.
I have three Taurus G2 pistols, and I've run more than 5,000 rounds through my oldest, more than 4,000 through my second one.
I've found them absolutely reliable with 9mm brass and aluminum cased ammunition of all kinds.
Good to know. Thanks for sharing.
