For those that use Semipermanent hair color at home, how often do you use it? Also what is the best at home hair coloring product Permant, SemiPermanent, Demi Permanent for thinning hair? Also which brand do you think is good?

I use demi-permanent to add shine and deepen my color. My hair is naturally a mousy brown so I'm always either going darker or lighter. My current favorite brand is herbashine. It definitely makes my hair feel thicker and I don't notice any damage. I use the demi every 4 weeks or so (root touch-up).

When I decide to go lighter--I go usually go to the salon although I'm considering doing my own highlights to save money. Although the highlights damage my hair, my hair does seem thicker.

I use Clairol's Natural Instincts....I do it about every 2-3 weeks, depending on how my "roots" start looking! I only apply to the roots....never to the rest of my hair! I don't wash my hair every day, so it never gets the "26 washes" test! My hair does grow REALLY fast, so roots will appear before I get to a month's time.

There's no ammonia in the semi-permanent, so it really won't hurt your hair at all. Natural Instincts comes with a "touch up" color packet....it's ok in a pinch, but will not take the place of a real treatment.

I like it. Been using it for years and years...I buy lots when I have coupons or it's on sale!
