~*Hi all,
Well, I impulsively decided to color my silvery-gray hair a light auburn to match my gorgeous golden retriever puppy. My hair is now a funky shade of pinky-orange! I was unawares that pale gray hair doesn't take reddish tones well and isn't recommended. When I called the Garnier help line, they suggested that I try dying my hair with a blond kit to even it out. So, that's what I went ahead and tried. It didn't do much and my hair looks just awful! I battled endometrial cancer this year and really didn't think that my hair could reduce me to tears I've accepted that auburn hair is a bad idea for me and that I need to get myself to a professional for a color correction. I was wondering if it would be possible to have my hair dyed some shade of blond. Especially after dying my hair twice in one week (although my hair is actually softer afterwards).
Have you ever had a hair color correction? If so, what was your experience like & what did it cost?
TIA, Heather~*

I've used baking soda and peroxide before to strip red hair dye. It worked, but I had to use a protein filler afterwards before my hair would take the new color.

I'm sure a professional will be able to fix your hair for you, don't worry.

Big Hugs....for everything you've been through.

Years ago, I used a box of over the counter color remover after a bad dye job. As I recall, it turned my hair white! I then colored it a med blonde. I was a nervous wreck through both procedures, and because I had put so many chemicals on my head in such a short amount of time, I burned my scalp.

My hair eventually looked fine, but the whole process was too traumatizing. I wouldn't do it again, that's for sure.

Go to a salon, Heather. You deserve to be pampered.

Do you swim? Chlorine can do a good job removing hair color (at least it did for me, but I did have semi-permanent color in). It might tone the color down a bit. Just condition it well afterwards. Otherwise, a professional redo is probably in order.

Good luck and hang in there.
