I felt so sad on seeing my hair cut. Few days, I didnt go out from my home. After that my started growing and back to the old length. Hereafter, I did not go to that saloon again for hair cut in my life.

Do not be a doormat to your hairstylist.
Find a gay male hairstylist, they are nice and know what they are doing.

Yes, ALL gay, male hairstylists know what they are doing.

I had one last year. She chopped off my bangs like when I was in 2nd grade. I wasn't watching that closely. No one has ever done that. Then, chopped one side different from the other. Bangs, too. Disaster. I called the salon and the head of the company. Blah, blah, nothing done. I wouldn't let them touch it again so I doctored it up and stayed away from the place after that She had to be a real loon looking back.

I do my own hair (trim/layer/color) so only have myself to yell at if it comes out bad

It can be very disappointing though when someone else does it and doesn't listen to what you want and it comes out looking quite different from your idea.

I allowed a friend's daughter who was finishing up cosmetology school to layer my hair, trim my bangs, and touch up my roots about 15 years ago. My bangs were so short on the top you could spike them and she chopped 8" of hair off the bottom. The roots came out greenish-brown :: I didn't get angry since the girl was already crying hysterically at the spiked bangs and green roots.

With too short or crooked bangs, sometimes wearing them in a side-sweep can help disguise them. Screwed up hair color--buy some from the drug store and do it yourself. Unfortunately when they clop too much off the only fix for that is letting it grow back out unless you want to do the hair extensions.

I recently got a bad haircut.

Its a small salon and the stylist is a newer one.

Part of me wants to call the owner and nicely explain that I am not happy. If she asks for me to come in and have the stylist fix it, I would not trust the same stylist to fix it. But if I go in and have the owner fix it, then I will have to see this other stylist which could be awkward. I also wonder if the owner will subconsciously feel a need to defend her stylist, so she won't really listen to what I am saying.

If I go to a totally different salon and show them what is wrong, I predict their mind will be more open to my criticisms of how my hair looks because they will be feeling like "oh I can fix someone else's mistake" - and that will make them feel happy about it.

Of course, if I go to another salon I have to pay for another hair cut.

I don't have complicated hair, but for some reason 8/10 stylists argue with me about how I want my layers cut. I've had two who cut them exactly how I want. The others always tell me "it isn't possible." I should have known I was going to end up unhappy when this one challenged my request for shorter layers on top, but she had already started cutting.

I'm thinking I should call the salon first, listen to what the owner says, and then if that isn't going to work, I'll go to another one.

Those who can cut their own hair and make it look good deserve an award. I'm not good at it, at all. When I was 12, my grandfather let me cut his hair, once. Emphasis on once. He wore a hat for six weeks after. Even at the dinner table, which was a big no-no at home. He was the bravest man I knew.

It’s just hair, people. It will grow.

I have no clue how I want my hair, so I just say give it a trim and she does. I think the hair stylist has a better understanding of my hair Idiosyncrasies than I do, so I’m not really calling the shots. She is.

I guess if you have long hair and someone cuts too much off, that is a problem, but most of the time I feel like they know better than I do.

who hasn't had a bad haircut? I've had several of them over the years! we all have had a bad haircut or, worse, a bad dye job. stylists are human. a bad haircut is annoying but not permanent.

I go to Lemon tree hair salon. I have been going there for about 5 years. I have been to every stylist there. I really like this one girl who does my hair. I basically get it washed, sit in the chair and she cuts it how I like. Sometimes I'll change it up and tell her what I want. I keep my hair short and layered. I hate bangs. I can honestly say I never had a bad haircut. I had gone to other salons in the past also good but their prices started sky rocketing like they were trying to complete with Beverly Hills I said I am not paying that. I pay $20.00 plus tip. They don't blow dry my hair because I like to let it air dry. I color my own hair though.

I still have my razor combs though and don't hesitate to do my own adjustments. It sounds like your bangs are a bit clumpy? If it were me, I would feather them lightly just at the ends, which won't shorten them. That will make them look softer and not as girlish. Just MHO.
The thing is if the hair is cut far too short theres not much at all you can do to change it no matter what you use.. I got mine cut short a few years ago and because my hair has a slight curl it jumps up if cut short and it didnt suit me at all. I looked like David Schwimmer.
