Didn't those used to be sold by door-to-door salesmen long ago? Selling a variety of brushes and other household cleaning tools? Nobody goes door-to-door anymore. Traveling salesmen have been replaced by Amazon.

Yeah, I use natural bristle brush too, but all have different purposes. If OP has very thick hair, to comb them she needs a stiff brush that will go all the way down to the skalp. Those natural ones are a bit too soft for that. And detangling brushes are not thick enough (too spaced).
The brush on OP picture is also great for skalp massage to stimulate hair growth.
You might get something similar in specialty stores like Sally's, Ulta and stores that also sell wigs and hair extensions.
Also check eBay and Etsy. Not sure why they became a rarity.

I ordered a vintage Goody brush from Ebay; it's still in the package. Some of the prices for those brushes are outrageous!
i have a lot of brunette hair and use their combination boar and nylon bristle brush. my hair is too thick for 100% boar bristle.
the first i purchased over 30 years ago, and just retired it. they are pricey, but there is no substitute.
i've tried a few similar brands on amazon (misel, shash and rock & ruddle), but do yourself a favor and purchase only Mason Pearson. no other brand will come close.
my daughter is 20 years old and she knows no other hair brush.
eta: they also produce a brush that is 100% nylon bristle.

I've gotten similar brushes from Dollar Tree. They don't hold up as well as the Goody, but they're better than a dog brush!
