I'm formerly from VA but now based in TN. Kid who is entering kindergarten is still in VA with my parents (grandparents of my kid).

One of the public school requirements is Proof of Address (in VA). But I don't live there anymore. My plan is to stabilize myself in TN for a year and get my kid to TN for Grade 1 -- after he finishes kindergarten in VA with the aid of my parents.

Enrolment if fast coming soon. I'm in VA right now for my monthly bonding visit to my kid and wish to talk to the school but does not know what to say yet.

Any ideas? Will they waive the Proof of Address ?

Just lie and say you live with your parents.

Hello,
All you need is a proof of residence form that you can get from any public school in your desired area. Get the form fill it out with your parents address stating that the permanent address for you and your child is in Virginia. Then get the form notarized and you are good to go. People do this all the time.

Exactly. You don't have to lie about it. Plain and simple, your 'kid' lives in VA with your grandparents. He is a resident. You live in TN. You're not a resident.
