I have always driven through Virginia on my way to Norfolk and I really don't care about that area, but now I am at a part of my life where I want to move to Virginia, especially the Hampton area. I have no knowledge of the towns or cities. Can someone help me to find a area of Hampton, Virginia to move to. I am an administrative assistant and hoping I can still find a job in Hampton that start off with $35,000.00 yearly. I have 2 children one in the 8th grade and the other in the 10th grade. Need a cultural environment. Also, seeking a townhouse or condo, I am a vet. Pls help!

my suggestions would be either find a place in york county or NW Hampton. Hampton has a very strong southern and miltary culture. For your sons be careful in hampton which HS you will be assigned to b/c the school system dosen't have the best reputation but there are two decent high schools there; Bethel and Kecoughtan. Everyone in HR will tell you that the safest place for public schools on the peninsula is York County. The job probably wont be that easy to come by with the marginial job market down there. I also seen that you've posted in the DE and MD forums. Personally by standard of living and quality of life numbers, VA is the best out of the 3.

With the boys, I would suggest York County for the School system, however there aren't a whole lot of town homes and condos in York County. They still sell pretty quickly because of the low invesntory in that price range in York County. Moderator cut: realtor soliciting

Thank you very much for your response. Are there apartments in York County? I would need a 2 bedroom as well from reading the other emails, I am getting sad because of the job situation down there. Need to work! I will just look into another state.

Default Thank you!

Yes, I am trying to get out of NJ on a oneway ticket! Not to come back at all! But I don't want to move somewhere where I will have a hard time looking for a job. Maybe I will try South and North Carolina as well Georgia.
