Just wondering what the locals do for Memorial Day weekend. Do you go to the beach or the festivals, or is that mostly just for tourists?

Well, I am visiting VB for Memorial Day weekend. I grew up there. I hope to have a great time. I will go to see some of the bands at the oceanfront www.beachstreetusa.com
I will visit the Port of Norfolk (my job is related to this and I can possibly transfer back home)
I will see my sister, GodFather, Aunt, neices, nephew, brother in law, friends ( a small cookout) , and visit my mother and father's grave site in Norfolk. I will go to Chick's beach (if it is warm enough I will sit and the beach and go in the water), and most likely eat at the Lynnhaven Fish house, or Surfrider restuarant, and I will surely eat at the Beach Pub in VB when I am there. Maybe meet someone off city data.

I, and most other locals I know, will avoid most of the stuff at the strip because of the congestion and parking issues. If I do go to the beach it will be the North End or Sandbridge, and I will get there early (before 8am) because it is less crowded, the winds are lighter in the morning, and parking is easier to find.

Personally, I will golf at least once, spend my other mornings at the beach, take my kayak out at least once, and BBQ with family and friends in the evenings.

So the Beach Pub in VB is the place to be? I'll be sure to check it out!

Where do you go jet skiing? Do they have public rentals?

We have our own and typically go on the Chickahominy. Kingsmill now rents jet skis

We are staying out of traffic and enjoying a restful weekend at home. Kudos to those who brave the "elements!"
I just heard on KLOVE this morning that someone was playing the violin while driving. They were using their knee to steer. OMGoodness
