Maybe going to Norfolk in April.

What's the train station like at night? Is it super sketchy?

How's the food?

never been to norfolk.

Is Yorktown battlefield doable as a day trip?

I've left NY and I'm in Williamsburg VA now. Don't know anything about Norfolk, but Williamsburg has an Amtrak train station in a very nice area. You can walk to Colonial Williamsburg from it easily.

It's close to Yorktown Battlefield https://www.rome2rio.com/s/Williamsb...orktown-VA-USA

Southern BBQ is the best! Crab season is beginning in April. The whole area is big on seafood. I miss my NYC pizza and Italian, but that's about it.

I know it's no help with Norfolk.

Its new (Opened 10 years ago)
Its in the AAA baseball park parking lot

Not sure about any bus service there, the local sprint trolley wont be too helpful, does go into dntn and Ghent

Id grab a car to get to Downtown Norfolk and Ghent (fun, not far, more 30s-40s not 20s bars)

As for YorkTown Jamestown, Williamsburg, etc. You hafta drive over bridges and thru subwater tunnels. Can be 45 mins, can be a couple hours ONE WAY depending on tunnel traffic.

The train station is a bit desolate (in a big parking lot by a baseball stadium) but it’s next to a light rail station. I’ve taken the light rail from there to a hotel downtown. It’s easy, and coming off the Amtrak train there will be at least a few other ppl going to the light rail platform with you.

Yorktown, Williamsburg, Jamestown (the Colonial Triangle) are close enough for a day trip. You’ll want to get a car for that trip. Someone mentioned tunnel traffic. It can be bad at certain times of the day and during beach season.

The food scene is ok, but I didn’t have anything all that memorable on my last couple of visits. Decent selection of local oysters at a couple places downtown. Lot of beer halls/bars on Granby St. A local person would be able to make specific recommendations.
