I have the stats because I have printed them out in 90 days cycles for the whole city during the last 3 years for insurance purposes for my business.....These stats came straight from the City of Norfolk Police dept.

So if you want the source fine.....it called the "Norfolk Police Department" Second Patrol division located at 2500 N Military Hwy ask for the Crime Analysis Unit, you fill out the forms they will run the stats and you can pick them up at the Police Operations Center located at 3661 E Virginia Beach Blvd at their Central Records division in about a week...the cost is 15 bucks and they can run the stats back till 2003 when the city of Norfolk started using the National Incident Base Report tracking system..

So you go ahead and use a 2nd or 3rd party info sites if you want...I get my stats straight from the Police....here are a few cities for you....every city is different as far as what you can get off of the web regarding stats but every city offers hard copies dating back a number of years if you want them for some reason....

Im going to admit Im wrong to someone who claims to have police records, and has personally compiled them?

Guess what genius, you claimed the numbers, the burden of proof is on you. This is not a situation where your numbers are fact until someone proves you wrong. Your numbers are junk until they are substantiated by a source that all can access readily. So, far, Im the only person who has provided that, until you can, you should really think about admitting youre wrong and moving on.

OK Mr I have to have proof..... what do you want me to do...scan every page on to this site just to make you happy.....True the city of Norfolk web base community site only goes back 90 days on stats...want me to tell them they need to go back two years on their stats just so I can prove a point on a debate am having on a web site...yeah I am sure that will go over real good......
Want me to give you the 15 bucks so you can go get your own copy of the stats since 2003...I will!!

You ask about facts but then you go and make another silly remark about 50% of the shooting since 2008 happened in downtown Norfolk......Please prove that to me!!!!...I am still waiting for you to prove the first statement how most of the cities 88 homicides over the last two years in the city of Norfolk occurred downtown....You cant even prove that statement let alone the other.......look at the on line stats for the past 90 days which everyone has access to ...........Which is well within the time frame the 3 murders downtown took place...........tell me how 3 murders out of 12 city wide over the past 90 days is 50%....this is just simple math.....

You are the one making these silly statements I think the burden of proof falls on you.....

I am not applauding the city of Norfolk, it is a high crime city for its size and I have said that many times on this site but most of the crime does not take place downtown like you wish

Dude sometimes you just have to move on....whats next from you ....conspiracy theory's involving Police stats and how they are kept just to try and prove a point you cant......

Thank you I will try...this thread is about Newport News, but sometimes you just have to call a person out when that person makes silly remarks trying to put down an area just for his own giggles and self satisfaction because he does not like the area and wants everyone else to feel the same.....This site is about helping people that dont know the area and remarks like his could turn someone off from downtown if they dont know the true facts.....

The evidence I presented DID prove that. Whether its valid or not, I dont know. I dont have all of the data, and Im certainly not paying for it.

I never claimed that......here is my claim that you disputed, cut and pasted

(many of the murders and assaults in the area occur outside clubs or bars).

I did not claim any specific data applicable to downtown Norfolk. I stated that bars and clubs in general are the sight of MANY murders and assaults in the area.

My second claim, which you are debating here, was this....

Check out stats since 2008, for shootings. You will notice that about 50% of shootings in Norfolk occured in DOWNTOWN NORFOLK.

I think it is worth mentioning that SHOOTINGS do not equal HOMICIDE. Id be willing to venture that a majority of shootings do not end up as homicides in the country.

No, Im sure the police records are accurate enough, the problem is, you arent directly quoting them. You are giving some BS number that you compiled from your alleged police records, and are feeding us as fact. These records are only available for a cost and a time expenditure almost NOBODY would do for the sake of some stupid board.

By the way, I found something else

Norfolk Crime: Search | HamptonRoads.com | PilotOnline.com[month]=1&from[day]=1&from[year]=2007&to[month]=4&to[day]=23&to[year]=2009&op=Submit&form_id=crime_searchform

This is the pilotonline stats, which I pulled for homicides from Jan 1 2007 to Apr 23 2009

It lists 6 homicides west of St. Paul, and south of E. Va Beach Blvd, double which you claim in your police reports.

I dont know what you are defining as "down town" but thats what I would define it as, and they are conflicting with your stats as well.

Ironically, Ive spent most of this article boosting up Newport News, which is the subject of the thread.

Second, if you are going to try to "call" a person out, try having something of substance to call them out with.

You are simply another business shrill with some sort of service business, probably a club, in downtown Norfolk, that denies its a dump, when most locals are afraid to go anywhere near there at night, and for very good reason.
