Hi all.

I'm from out of state and just purchased a home in Chesapeake. We need a reputable (and affordable) pool and lawn service. Do you have any recommendations for either of these?

Thanks so much!

Reputable and affordable normally dont belong in the same sentence when talking about pools or lawn care because you normally get what you pay for but I will give my advice.......

Pool service will vary depending on what type of pool you have, is it fiberglass, concrete, or lined with vinyl? Do you want a company just to open and close you pool every season or do you want weekly service...etc? Your best bet is to try and find out what company installed your pool and make contact with them as any quality pool company will require a complete pool inspection and warranty work before starting any type of service contract. Did you not require the past homeowner to have a pool inspection done before buying this home to check for any problems and show you the findings before closing? They most likely would of used the company that installed the pool...........If not you can check with the city permit department and they should have the records of who obtained the permit

If you decide to use another company, there are a number of good pool companies in Chesapeake (you can check with the BBB on any past complaints). I would talk with your neighbors that have pools and ask them who they use. You might be able to piggy back into a contract schedule with their pool company since the pool maintenance person would be in the neighborhood servicing their pool anyway and save a little money on service.......I use Polynesian Pools for any maintenance problems and they have always did great work but that is who installed my pool.......

As far as lawn service good luck, I do my own yard work so I cant recommend anyone to you but I know most people when they find a good yard company dont go around telling everyone who it is......So many people today that are into lawn care are just fly by night companies and are here one day and gone the next. I would check with your local garden center and see who they recommend, but with the economy the way it is I would not sign into a long term contract, as these types of business seem to be the first ones to go belly up.

I used Hampton Roads Landscaping & Lawn Care for my yard renovation and was very satisfied. www.thehamptonroadslawnguy.com, 757-301-2304 is their contact info. They were great and gave me a reasonable price.

Hi all, could I please have a recommendation on a lawn service or independent contractor that will mow later in the day? I need to be present when they are here. PM or public fine. Thanks!
