What are the best family friendly neighborhoods in Norfolk that are really close to the Navy Base. Looking for a 3 bedroom home, close to a good elementary school, but also close to the base. We are a one car family and I need to be able to get my husband to the base and my daughter to school on time. Any suggestions would be helpful. Price range is $1200 to $1500 a month.

Check Larchmont area. I was totally against living in Norfolk but I am very happy in Larchmont. Family friendly, always people out for walks and kids playing in the neighborhood, plus Larchmont Elementry is propbably the only public school I would consider for my son. Many of the rentals are handled by nancychandler.com.

Is there any part of Larchmont that is not family-friendly? I have looked at the elementary school and really liked it but everyone I have talked to in the past said it's a wild college neighborhood. lol

toward ODU may be "college like" but I have never felt like I lived in an area with crazy college kids. Its a fairly affluent area with many doctors, lawyers, and naval officers.
