We have a private charter flight going to Honolulu on October 28. We depart from Van Nuys, CA.
Dogs will be traveling in the cabin with us. Once we arrive in Honolulu they will need to go in their kennels. We have arranged transportation to the quarantine office, so we will be accompanying our pets the entire way.

We only have a couple of seats left. If you are interested in joining us, please let me know!

JollyDogs, I have a dilemma and hopefully you can help. My girlfriend and I are flying to Maui on the 31st from LAX. Unfortunately we have two dogs and they only had room for one more. Do you think it would be possible if my other flew on your flight and stayed in quarantine for two days until we were able to pick him up on the 31st? How much would we have to pay for that and what do you think the quarantine fees would be for those two days? Both of my pets have been cleared for direct release at Honolulu and we would be taking a connecting flight from Honolulu to Kanapali. Hawaiian Airlines have not been helpful to us at all and I would not like to leave him behind. Hopefully you can help me come up with a solution. Thanks.

Hi hermandie,
That is a dilemma. Can you and your girlfriend take separate flights so you can each bring a dog? Unfortunately we all have our own animals, so we will all have our hands pretty full. We require there to be a person traveling with the dogs.
As far as the charges for the quarantine stay, they list the prices on the website or you can email them. I was under the impression that someone had to come in everyday and take care of their dogs. I could be wrong, but I would recommend you look into that, just my 2 cents.
At any event - if taking separate flights so each of you can bring a dog is not an option, then I would recommend you look into Pacific Air Cargo (PAC). They fly out of LAX at night. It is all cargo, but the animals are in the main body of the plane behind the pilots. I have heard good things about them. You can seek out Pacific Flights on here and he can give you more details. To avoid a lengthy quarantine stay, I think I would rather do the PAC the night before you fly out so your dog will be there waiting for you when you arrive. Just talk with the quarantine office and they can give you advise. They are really nice and helpful.

Never mind. We were able to work things out so that both pets can be with us.

Just to let you know... we now also have a connecting charter flight going to Maui. So if you are heading to Maui with your dogs, please let me know. We will depart Van Nuys, CA on October 28, stop in Honolulu and then some passengers will continue on to Maui. Good deal! Only a little room left.

Dear JollyDogs
Can you please advise which charter company takes pets to Hawaii? I am in the early stages of researching a possible relocation to Hawaii (Honolulu) with our two golden retrievers, an 11 year old healthy senior, and a one year old. I realize there are months of paperwork to prepare for the trip, so I would anticipate a June/July 2010 trip. Any suggestions you can offer would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Hi GoldensRule!
Most do. You are paying a lot of money for the privilege of flying on their airplane, so they are usually pretty good about dogs. But you need to reconfirm that they are okay with dogs and let them know how many dogs will be traveling. There may be extra cleaning fees. I'd get it in writing. When preparing the paperwork, just remember that blue ink is your friend! Make sure that all the rabies certificates are originals and are signed in blue ink. Same with the final health certificate. It is too hard to verify if it is an original when it is signed in black. If the rabies certificates you have are stamped or not a blue ink signature, go back to the vet and have them make a new one for you. Most are pretty good about this. Hope this helps!

Jolly-
Can the vets print one off their computer to show the original rabies date and then have the vet sign it in blue ink? But at what date? Back date it to the original date? Or sign it today's date, for example?

Crap Blue ink!! mine was in black but it was pretty obvious it was an orginial. OK will be having them make me another copy in Blue ink signed to take with me just incase to provide.

Yes Tortoise31 they can reprint and resign. That is what I had to do to change the microchip number to match the one with blood test last week. Didn't think of blue ink though. It is signed with orginal date of rabies. At least that is what they did for the one they just re did for me that I already mailed off.
