I had never considered that sunscreen could be bad for coral (being a land-lubber most of my life). What are your favorite coral-safe sunscreens?

The four worst ingredients that harm are: paraben, cinnamate, benzophenone, and camphor. Avoid these ingredients.

Look for sunscreens that specifically say Coral Safe or Reef Safe. Online retailers like Amazon have lots of choices to pick from.

Thanks for asking.

Forget the sunscreen. Wear a rash guard.

Aloha

Hehe. Of course! My whole family already wears rashguards (we're marshmallow pasty white :P) - but we'd still need something for our faces/hands/etc. :P So far I've found "Purple Prairie" and "Elemental Herbs" to be the better-rated "coral safe" sunscreens on amazon. Still - any particular favorites?

Wanted to reply to bump this up and see if anyone had any other recommendations. I wear a rash guard but that only covers so much. Thank you!

For your face I recommend something different than regular suntan lotion. I like the Vertra Mick Fanning signature suntan lotion face stick. This stuff stays on in the water for hours. It's a little greasy to get off afterwards, but worth it.
