Hey! I got back from sac-town last Monday. 105° , God how I do not miss triple digits.
It was 108f today here in Sac today. I checked and it was 95f at 9:30pm. Obscenely hot. Our AC hasn't stopped running for more than a few minutes at a time in days. I fear my electrical bill. I keep muttering to myself "at least we're not in Phoenix".

Ah, you were a lowlander, that explains a lot
26 year Auburn resident here.
Sacramento isn't so bad, it's no Stockton. Besides, the housing boom saw lots of Bay Area folks selling their overpriced houses and moving up to the foothills and Sierra's. So all those half-way point towns are seeing a bit of a resurgence.
We have been visiting Hawaii two to three times a year over the last 10 years. About 5 years ago we asked ourselves "why not just stay?". So, we put a plan in place, started aggressively saving money and decided to make the move in 2017. So, we just sold our house, bought our one-way tickets, and following our plans to make Hawaii our home.
I hope your saving was REALLY aggressive! I used to live in the Bay Area but Hawaii has been my home for close to 20 years. If you need neighborhood advice just shout!
So many people post 'moving to Hawaii' threads on here, probably more than any other place. So I'm curious. What are the reasons you have considered or toyed with the idea of moving to Hawaii, or why did you move?
I grew up on a tropical island (Java).
I need the water. My mind and body crave it. It centers me.
I hate clothes.
I love family and nature.
I like nothing more than quietly looking at and swimming with the fish.
I'm very much into marine biology.
I like the laid back vibe.
But I mean I hate formal clothes.
I'm a tank top and shorts kinda gal. I hate shoes (don't worry, I actually have pretty feet), so tevas or flip flops are great for me.
I get a lot of weird looks here.
When I worked in Hawaii for a month...no one seemed to notice or care.
