Agreed. Years ago, one of my friends lost her job, went without insurance, and just before she started her new job, she had asthma attack and ended up in the ER in the middle of the night....with an astronomical bill.

LOL - not quite sure this makes my point. How did she pay for the unexpected expense? Was she funding a rainy day account with the saved COBRA premium?

Oops...I read too quickly. My response should have been to the poster(s) who suggested not having any insurance during the unemployed time.

I suggest that you cancel the COBRA, keep the new insurance, and start paying into a health Care Savings account. Hopefully you will remain healthy till you reach Medicare age at least.
