My daughter will be off our health ins. policy on her 26th bday (which is 10/2/92). She will be a full time student at that point for 2 more years to get her BS degree.
She would like to get on medicaid. How would she begin to do that?

Thank you very much,
Cynthia Burton,
She can start by filling out your state’s application online.

Will you stop claiming her as a dependent on your taxes? If she doesn't file her own taxes, your "household income" will exceed Medicaid limits, no doubt. Yes, you will lose the dependent and educational deduction money, but if you want her to have health insurance, you will accept this.
Oh, and any scholarship money, or money you supply for her schooling, is also considered income for her and should be reported on her taxes.
Not sure but I think as long as her income is below

$18k per year gross then she might qualify?
As long as she is not on your taxes as a dependent as a previous poster stated.

I don't know about where you live, but in Missouri, we did not "expand" our Medicaid during the Obamacare fiasco, so the only people who are eligible are children or disabled.
At 26 years of age a person needs to be responsible for themselves financially. Even a student.
OP, at all of the colleges I've attended, students were required to have health insurance, and the colleges generally had several affordable plans if students didn't already have insurance, so that might be the first place to start.
The next step would be to consult an independent insurance broker, but I'll bet that the college will offer something that will work.
