I've been working for 45 years and I'm not eligible for Medicare either, I have 2 more years before I can get it. Unfortunately, ACA is very expensive, I was quoted $1200 a month for ACA, so I chose a high deductible non-ACA compliant plan that is
only $600 a month. I never thought I'd say this, but I can't wait until I'm 65!
ps, I just reread this and see your mom isn't a citizen, so I'm sorry but I don't know what that means in terms of health insurance.
