I've been working for 45 years and I'm not eligible for Medicare either, I have 2 more years before I can get it. Unfortunately, ACA is very expensive, I was quoted $1200 a month for ACA, so I chose a high deductible non-ACA compliant plan that is only $600 a month. I never thought I'd say this, but I can't wait until I'm 65!

ps, I just reread this and see your mom isn't a citizen, so I'm sorry but I don't know what that means in terms of health insurance.

You need to use a NYC public hospital. Might also be eligible for Epic for drug coverage.

If anyone else has any helpful advice to offer, the thread will stay open.

For the people who made nasty remarks, enjoy your vacations! This is a legitimate question about a LEGAL immigrant, someone who has not broken any laws and has a right be live here. All people need health insurance and our system is very confusing. Off topic or mean spirited comments have been deleted and infractions issued.
