Man oh man... lately I've been having excessive thirst. It's crazy! Like I can't get enough to drink. Water, iced tea, whatever. I HAVE to have something to drink. Next problem. Almost as soon as I'm done drinking whatever it is, I have to urinate. Then I'm thirsty again and drink some more. Even at night, I will wake up for something to drink. One night recently, I kept waking up thirsty and drank over a liter of water.
I'm calling my doc tomorrow morning to make an appointment but I'm posting here now to see if anyone has an idea of what this is?
Thanks, everyone. I had blood work done last week (full workup) and am hoping the results will be back this week. I really want to see the doc about this ---- it's pretty scary. I thought diabetes, too, but the urinating didn't come up on the few sites I visited. Is that a sign, too?
Now, if I have developed diabetes (and I hope/pray I haven't), what can I do?? Is this something that's reversible?

Yes, excessive thirst and urination are symptoms of diabetes.
There are some things that can be done like losing weight, exercise, eating healthy, that may help you get off medication. But some people no matter what they do, still must take medication.

Yes, it is !! And you want your kidneys to work to flush the excess sugars and fluids. Your urine should be clear and color from light yellow to medium dark yellow.
If you stop peeing all of a sudden get yourself to the ER ASAP 'cause your kidneys could be shut down or shutting down!!
Also.....
A lot of doctors aren't very helpful in discussing diabetes with their patients. So it's up to you to become an expert on this illness to save your own life. There is help out there so don't quit looking until you find it.
