An orthopedic surgeon who is a hand specialist - they exist. Mine were done by one.
Same here....I sat in a chair right next to him with my arm outstretched towards him on a rest...He allowed me to watch...very interesting to see inside my hand...I could see how the artery(or nerve) had an hourglass shape to it, the surgeon said that was because the nerve had been pinched for so long, and that it was a good thing to get it taken care of otherwise I could end up with permanent nerve damage...really fascinating to watch, it's been a few years anyways since the operation, and my hand is working just great, and it's so nice to have feeling in it all the time again.
Hubby saw the doctor a couple of days ago. Because the one hand (which isn't as bad) seems to swollen because of pressure on the nerve he has been given a Cordazone (spelling) pack, the ones you take 6 pills a day, then 5, then 4 etc. He already feels 80% better, thank goodness. The next step is wrist braces, at least at night, though doc doesn't think they will do much good. We will only try them for a month or so, if they aren't working it will be surgery time. He may do both hands at once if I am willing to do almost everything for hubby, at least a for a couple ca ccouple couple of days. Wiil keep everyone posted.
