A wise patient will KNOW what meds they are taking and will question the doctor if they disagree with prescriptions given to them.
With the internet it's very easy to lean about every pill, shot or liquid they take.
Doctors are human and pharma companies lie all the time about how safe drugs they sell are. The FDA often , all to often, just take the pharma companies word for how safe a drug is.

...KNOW what you put in your body since it may save your life!!!!!!!!
You and I don't always agree. But on this - we do. People should always research what they are taking and be an active consumer when it comes to taking medications.

This statement, on the other hand, is a bunch of crap. Get a job at a pharma company, spend several years running clinical trials, and file an NDA that gets approved and you will see the lack of merit in making such a wildly inaccurate claim.
Yet one more reason to do away with generic drug companies.

While it can be helpful to get a second opinion on health matters. It is important to find a doctor that you trust and work to build a solid relationship with them so that they get to know you, and your medical history, very well.
whatever the motivation may be, ranging from a desire to be an informed patient and to make active choices about your health and healthcare, to conspiracy-based paranoia, knowing and understanding as much as you can about the medication you take can only be a good thing.
I just want to add my two cents which might help someone. To start I am allergic to statins,do need them for cholestrol since I have had open heart surgery. My problem began with Lipotor many years ago,now 78.
A few months after surgery my body, muscles started aching building up to the point of almost crippling me.I went to cardiologist and questioned my meds,I was taking 3,he said they will not cause your problem but there is no need for Digoxin. When I stopped this med it was like turning out the lights, all aches, light headedness, pressure on temples gone almost overnight. With blood tests I show problem with liver which I have never had, hoping getting off Digoxin will let liver return to normal. My MD whom I asked question back in March left med's as is.My body felt wasted, could not lift anything.I have now been able to do work like I always have.
Maybe I am exception but hope maybe this will help someone.

He won't do that, tho. I think it might be more interesting and dramatic for folk to hold to conspiracy theories.
