Robaxacet, Robaxin, or whatever its called, if you want over the counter.
Also see what painkiller works for you, some people find Aleve works best, or Extra Strength Tylenol, more so than the other, so try them, but not on top of the Robaxacet.
I'd also recommend alternating heat with cold packs. Get them at the pharmacy, the kind that you can either freeze or heat in the microwave, then keep one in the freezer at the ready, and switch back and forth between that and the heated pack.
What I've been told is that Baclofen is the best medication to take. Whether it makes you drowsy depends on your body. I take Skelaxin & have had problems finding it & had to add the baclofen due to that.

I can't take Flexiril.
You took Baclofen because your pharmacist has a hard time stocking Skelaxin?

I'm sensitive to all medications. I've been prescribed every muscle relaxer there is & can't take it for some reason or another but have had luck with Skelaxin. There have been medication shortages most of last year- I normally mail away Skelaxin & my insurance could not get it. I then used a few local pharmacies (Walgreens; CVS & Rite Aid) until my insurance switched; I then mailed another 3 month script in & they could not get it. I tried to fill it at the local 3 but was told it was on back order due to the medication shortage. I've been having problems getting both the brand & generic (Metaxalone) of Skelaxin. Apparently I've depleted all of the local pharmacies.
If anyone is thinking of trying Skelaxin; make sure your pharmacy has it in stock 1st.
My new Dr switched me to Baclofen; which I normally can not take but I tried it again & was able to take it but only at night because it makes me sleepy.
