Doesn't bother me. I don't get much kind salutations in life, so to me it feels warm and friendly. My husband always calls me Babe or Baby and I really never liked that. Honey. Dear. Sweetheart (can't even imagine him saying that). So if a dr. called me something sweet, unless he was creepy or touchy-feely, I wouldn't mind it. What I've noticed is especially check out people or nurses call me Ms. ____ and I'd rather be called by my first name as I'm NOT a Ms. I'm a Mrs. But life is busy. I wait and wait everywhere it seems for someone to give me their attention. As long as they're not being sarcastic, they can call me anything and wait politely on me!
I had a cousin (now deceased RIP) who used to refer to me and my younger brother as "You boys". He definitely didn't mean any harm by it. I reminded him that both my brother and I are senior citizens. We'd all have a good laugh about it. It was a habit for him because he was quite a bit older than we were. Our mom was the youngest sibling in her family, so we were the youngest among the 1st cousins. All of the cousins on my mom's side were much older than my brother and I. We were closer in age to their kids who were our 2nd cousins.
Are you in the south? It’s pretty common down here but if you ask they’ll stop usually.
