I'm currently 23yo and turning 24 in Oct. Recently, Ive noticed my hair thinning considerably. I always used to have thick long hair but now i have that kind of sleazy thin politician hair. My dad is 54 and still has all his hair. As a matter of fact, looking at my family photo album, nobody in my entire family is bald! My moms brother is near 40 and still has a head full of rich black hair. My mothers father was not bald and my fathers father was not bald. Neither is my dads brother.

I'm a fairly health guy who avoids stress and works out every day. How is it possible that I'm losing my hair or going bald? ANyone had a similar experience?

Were you adopted?

"Sleazy" hair?

What is your hair doing to earn that label?

lol No I wasnt adopted. What I mean is that my hair is thinning to the point where you have to comb to the side for it to look full. Think of how politicians slick their hair to the side even though their clearly going bald.

FWIW I vaguely remember a science teacher telling me the male balding pattern is most often inherited from the mother's father.

So take a look at grandad, chances are he's bald as a badger.

My husband's hairline is receeding, although no other men in his family have had that issue. He says if it gets too noticeable, he's going to shave it, although he pointed out that Jason Statham (the actor from the Transporter, Death Race, Crank, etc) has a receeding hairline and he seems to do all right.

It is supposed to come from the mother's genetic line. If her father was not bald there was probably someone a generation or two back that was.

I see what you mean. So you can inherit a gene from 2-3 generations ago. Crazy
