the question is whether the people prescribing it are aware of the side effects

any half decent doctor is going to measure the patient's liver enzyme levels

I agree. It's ridiculous how much money Lipitor has generated the past 10 years. Being in healthcare, I've always questioned how over prescribed these drugs have been. I don't recommend these drugs to many of my non medical friends who are perfectly healthy otherwise.

And that's the key. So many of these "wonder drugs" are being prescribed to lower risk patients. All because of Big Pharma is pushing the envelope.

Unfortunately many physicians are guilty (probably with drug reps whispering in their ears) these drugs are the best. I've seen far too many young adults who have zero family history of risk factors who end up on these drugs.

I put it out as public info, everyone needs to investigate the facts and reach their own conclusion. Just realize that corporate interests have their profits, not your health, in their best interests. I have 'high' this, and 'high' that, and I ignored all of the pressure to start taking their poison for many years now, with no ill effects.

Probably me, too.

The vast majority of folks who take them do not have side effects.

You really do NOT know that with real assurance.

Just curious how many have come up with any of the side effects from statins since this thread was started.

Refused them and can only advise others to seriously question using them.

I want to take this back. I have leg problems that I attribute to statin drug use. Only take 1 per week these days.

What sort of leg problems? Can you tell us how you think the leg problems are related to stains, and how long after taking statins did the leg problems show up?
Thanks
