Always looking for ways to be less subservient to the industrial infrastructure, I decided I would learn to swallow pills without water. The first time I tried it, six pills, I just worked up a bit of saliva for a few seconds, and they went right down. Rats. Now I need to construct another challenge for myself.
Nice to know that if I ever need to take a pill, there is no necessity to stop the car at a convenience store and buy something to drink for 99c. Or, go to any other trouble to try to seek out any water.
Yes, I can in a pinch, but I try to avoid it. The medications I take on a regular basis require liquid to improve their absorption and efficacy. One is best taken with milk. Anytime I need ibuprofen, I'm very careful to take it with water to reduce stomach irritation.
I take pills with water same reason as randomparent - to reduce stomach irritation. Also, to reduce the chance that it'll take too long to get -to- my stomach, and bits will break off in my esophagus and not get absorbed efficiently and then I might as well not have taken the pill in the first place.
Even my chewables, I chew, swallow, and then have a gulp of *something* liquid. Whether it's coffee, or water, or a smoothie or even soup - as long as it's liquid.
My thyroid meds specify to take with plenty of water. Meaning - definitely not "no" water. At the very least, a few sips. I want my Ambien to get working as soon as possible, so getting it down my throat as easily as possible is a no-brainer. That means - take it with water.
uh, I can barely swallow a teeny tiny pill with a full glass of water.
Nothing is wrong causing that other than the docs say I tense up in my throat at the very idea of swallowing a pill. IF I must take a pill it is quite the ordeal to do so. And if I can get any needed meds in liquid form--I do so!!!
I'm not a wimp --it's a very real mental issue. I hate it.
The larger pills are easy for me to swallow, no water needed.
Small pills, sometimes they get stuck half-way down.
