Im getting a procedure done and because I will be sedated, the Dr. office has very strict rules that driver must take me and be there the entire time. I asked if I could take public transportation and the answer was no. I don't have anyone close and trust that would be available to do it.
I was thinking maybe posting an AD in Craiglist but... not much of a fan of that website especially hearing a young couple who were murdered after meeting a man on Craiglist not too long ago in my area.
Would a Church help me someone volunteering to drive? I'm not an active member

I never heard that rule before. I wonder why the driver have to be there? Hmm, i guess it wouldn't hurt to ask someone at the church. Maybe the pastor can find someone to take you. Your chances will be higher if mention gas money or payment. Then again since you're not an active member, I know how that is. You don't get any benefits the regulars get. You COULD try C.list but I'm not sure how reliable people are on there. I never needed a ride from people on that site but I have had a lot of ppl flake out on me when meeting me somewhere so I can buy the item they're selling and not even give me a heads up that they can't make it. Maybe there's a transportation web site for stuff like this in your area.
Generally, you must have someone to stay with you AFTER you get home...not during the procedure. But, they do want to know you will have a driver...a cab will NOT work!
There are places that have folks who can do this sort of thing, for a fee, if you don't have family or a friend willing to stay with you overnight. Google "Caregivers/drivers"....almost every area will have something!
Ask around...someone will have names for you. In our area, there are several...one is called "Gofer Girls"...they will take people to appointments, and even stay overnight, when needed. It's basically non-nursing care.

I forgot to add that I would pay for their time.

They didn't say someone had to stay after arriving home. One of my biggest concerns is someone bailing out at the last minute.
I called a Church and they would see what they could do in finding a volunteer
I checked to see if there were any transportation services in my area where they drive people to their appts. I only found one that charges $17.50 an hour. eeek! can't afford that. I live in the boonies and not IN the city where I needs to go

It will cost you. But look in yellow pages under Home Health" and tell them you need someone to drive you home. Take a taxi to get there. Tell the agency the approx time you will be finished and have the nurse call them. Most want a 3 hr minimum but you might luck out.
Ours has a volunteer organization associated with it that assists low income, homebound senior citizens. Transportation to/from medical appointments is one of the services. I would not use Craigslist!

I got good hits on things like the Red Cross in NH, and community groups in MN and MA.
I did see red cross offers transportation

It may be be expensive with the taxi as I live in a rural area. I don't think my appt. will last that long.

Im a few decades away from being a senior citizen.
I also would not use Craigslist. Have you googled a service in your area? I remember when I lived in FL seeing a car with an add on it that seemed like what you are describing. This way you know it would be safe.
What you need is a Medical Escort Service - I used one, recommended by the hospital (had to go through some red tape to get the recommendation), when I had a colonoscopy. Ask your doctor's office for a recommendation; or at least where to look. Not Craig's List, though!
