What is the Prognosis for Charcot Marie Tooth ? (foot)

One of my remaining friends' husbands has Charcot Marie Tooth. He is sixty nine, works out daily at the gym, does housework, drives and has had two hand surgeries and foot surgeries. His uncle has it too and pretty bad. Do you know anyone with it and how are they managing?
