Do you witness your doctor washing his/her hands when he/she enters the room to examine you?
My doctor came in to the room and did not wash his hands and I asked him about it and he was super offended. Claimed he had done it outside the room, which makes no sense.
Hand-washing is one way disease is prevented. Has it gone by the wayside?

Are in talking inpatient or outpatient?
Generally, all inpatient rooms have hand sanitizer that used upon entering the room, with the expection of c diff patients, where the gel is removed and hand washing must occur...going in and going out.
Outpatient settings are a bit different and yes, my doctor does wash his hands after entering the room. So does the nurse.
All of the Doctors I see use hand sanitizer when they enter the room. I'm assuming hand sanitizer is more common then a sink. For most exams, no gloves.
So do you believe they should be doing it IN the room?
The time my doctor came in, he just came over to me and was going to start examining me and I asked about the hand-washing and I thought he was going to blow a gasket!

Lord luv a duck!!! Think of all the germs on the seats in the waiting room and on the chairs in the doctors offices....there ought to be a total hose-down of the medical premises between patients.

For sure! I hope they get wiped down at least every few days. Kids climb all over those seats and people wipe their noses and touch the seats.
I can't imagine all the germs in a doctor's office. I assume you were kidding, well I'm NOT! Hand washing just makes sense!
