I decided to forgo getting any meds for the removal of the bandages. I was not sure what I would find under the outer bandage.
Removing the outer bandage was difficult as there was a lot of tape covering an area about 6x6 inches with a bit of back hair. Under I expected to find another layer of tape and gauze covering the the suture tape, but the only things there was the suture tape itself, so all the removing was done and still no pain.
I was also surprise that for a 3.5" incision, there was so little blood.
Thanks to all who responded, I appreciate the input.
Some areas of the body have more nerves to transmit pain, some have less. Some people just experience more pain than others for the same injury. I've had two surgeries, one was quite major, and never needed more than 800mg ibuprofen for the pain. No pain...no problem!
I had open heart and they gave me percoset with out asking and when I went to rehab,18 days they could not understand why I did not want oxy or perco, never had any pain meds, went home with prescription ,never used.
Had carotid surgery, told them allergic to oxy, they slipped me one at 5:30am caused me 87/30 blood pressure and a world of hurt.
