I saw an interview on TV about 10 or 15 years ago about a doctor who was treating foot neuropathy by slicing the nerve sheaths lengthwise. Apparently, the pressure of too-tight sheaths was causing the pain.
I believe the surgeon was at San Francisco Children's Hospital, in case anybody wants to try for more info.

That is interesting. I am in the SF Bay Area. Next time I see my neurologist I will ask her. It sounds painful, but I will take a one time pain over this chronic condition.
