Yep, got that lovely head-cold that's making the rounds. I can deal with it, but sure could use some help in relieving that night-time cough.
Post-nasal drip irritating throat, creating a scratchy tickle that makes me cough, cough, cough. So little sleep.
Have you tried any OTC or herbal remedies that seems to help? (Tea with a lot of honey works for a little while but when I lie down and try to sleep again, back comes the tickle and cough).
Ideas, suggestions??
Thanks!
PS went to Doc, not covid or bacterial so no antibiotics prescribed.
A cold-air humidifier can actually make it worse. A vaporizer will more efficiently humidify the air. Plus you can put some Vicks vaporizer liquid in it, and get that one-two punch that loosens things up in your chest. Use that in the DAYTIME.
Cold dry air, which you notice more when trying to sleep, will exacerbate a dry cough. When I get that, which is often, I can cure it by putting my head right under the covers for several minutes. The warm moist air (because you're re-breathing) will tamp a cough right down.
I found a really good cough syrup at the drugstore that quieted down that post nasal drip that kept me up all night coughing. I tried sleeping sitting up and couldn't do it.
So grateful for the medicine--and getting some good sleep--finally.
Look for the store brand that says "Nighttime HBP Cold & Flu Relief"--it's less$$ than the name brands..
This one's good if you also have high blood pressure.
