Yikes. maybe I should get another tetanus shot; I'm a gardener too. I got one about 10 years ago when I got punctured by something rusty when I was working in the garden.
Tetanus Questions and Answers The last sentence says you need it every 10 years. If you get a puncture wound and haven't had the vaccine in 5 years, get it!
I did get another smallpox vaccination back in 1974 but now they say we don't even need it. I never got another polio shot since the first one. I had measles and chicken pox so I have natural immunity. When I was a kid and my sister got the mumps, the doctor checked me somehow and it turned out that I was immune!
I've gotten tentanus shot (made my arm swell like half an implanted softball in there!) - I set myself a schedule of the '0 yrs. so I can remember. I was making a wreath and jammed a piece of wire straight into my finger - so I got one then and it happened to be 2000 so I got another in 2010 - otherwise, flu shot.
I had chickenpox as a kid - think I had measles but need to check w/mom - had mumps as well. The shingles thing is scary, if you've ever had chickenpox (or is it measles?) - the virus lives in your body and can emerge as shingles - I've heard they are extremely painful, don't necessarily affect only the elderly like I'd thought.

At least now there's a shingles vaccine (which I got as soon as they came out with it.) It's not 100% effective but it does provide some peace of mind for such a painful and debilitating illness. Does anyone know how effective the vaccine is?
I've had a tetanus booster a few times. That's it.
I don't get flu shots. I did get the flu this year. But then so did a lot of people I knew who did get the shot.
