Have you had these done?? I'm scheduled to have them both within two days a part from each other. I'm more scared of the sedation than the actual procedure.

Dont worry, it's a very common thing. Usually they use "conscious sedation", you wont remember a thing from the procedure. I've had it 3 times now; no worries!
Are you having it done in a hospital or office location?
I've had the endo and believe me it's nothing-my nerves were worse prior and it was a cinch. My doc does both same time (he says if he likes you he'll change the probe).
The worst part of the colonoscopy is the prep prior. My sis-in-law leaves after hers and orders pizza and lasagne.
I've had both. I, too, was worried about the endoscopy and having a tube down my throat. However, you'll be given a "twilight" anesthestic, which means you'll be awake but you wont remember anything. All my fears were for naught. As far as I knew, I went to sleep and, when I woke up, it was over.
I've also had colonoscopies. Same deal...except that, with the last one, I do remember saying "ow, that hurts". I dont remember any pain or discomfort...i just remember saying that.
Ditto about the prep being worse than the procedure for the colonoscopy. The week leading up to the procedure, I cut back my intake of food to lean meats, fruits and vegetables only. I had heard nightmares about being up half the night going to the bathroom. It seemed to help - it went rather quickly and I was able to get a full night's sleep.
I have had them both 3-4 times (lost count). Last time the endoscopy I was awake. They had me drink (swish the liquid around in my mouth and swallow) to numb the mouth/throat. Took about 3-5 mins to work. They then put the tube down my throat with no problem until I felt him hit something inside my stomach which made me jump. While down there they took some color pictures of my inside digestive area for the problems I had.
Had it done at the Veterans VA hospital...nothing but good words for them. Steve
Only had the colonscopy done. It's really not bad. I came out of the sedation quickly, and only remember being terribly dizzy, saying that kinda hurts, then lights out. Next thing I knew they were telling me it was over, and that I could eat and drink now. I was very thirsty.
The prep before the colonscopy is FAR worse than the actual procedure. Just drink the liquid as quickly as you can. Do not sip it, gulp it. The sooner it's done, the better. Do plan on being in the bathroom a lot for about 4 hours. Also, you will feel better if you drink water (which is permitted) while drinking the prep liquid. The water helps kill the aftertaste.
Actually, the orange-flavored prescription stuff I had to drink the day before my last colonoscopy was much tastier than what I was given the first couple of times. And, as did another poster, I ate very carefully for a few days prior to the procedure. It made the juice effects much easier.
