I went on a couple really wild roller coasters on Saturday. The first one was crazy, but I handled it ok. It went straight up and straight down, but didn’t have too many twists and turns. I felt a little weak-kneed after the ride, but ok. Immediately after that, we went on a second roller coaster that really threw me for a loop – two upside down loops to be exact. After that, I got off with major motion sickness. After maybe an hour, the major sickness passed, but I never really felt like myself for the rest of the day. I woke up feeling fine on Sunday, but around 10 a.m., I again felt queasy. The feeling came and went for the rest of the day. This morning, I woke up feeling fine, but I’ve again been dealing with on an off feelings of queasiness starting from mid-morning on.
A couple of questions: Could my wild ride on Saturday, still be affecting me? If so, would this indicate something wrong with my inner ear or something like that? I’ve always been prone to motion sickness, more than other people in my family. I hate it. Are my current feelings of motion-sickness in my head. It feels pretty real to me. In any case, it’s not fun.
Second: How can I prevent this from happening again? I enjoy amusement park rides, but not if it’s going to make me sick for the next week afterwards. We are going to Disneyland in the fall, and I would like to be able to go and enjoy all the rides with the kids.
Do you get congestion alot? From allergies and such? I do and it makes for motion sickness problems for me too,
on a totally unrelated note, could you be preggers?
I don't know if this would help with roller coasters, but my friend gets car sick and she puts a special bracelet on her wrists. They put pressure on your pressure points.

Nope, not a lot of allergy problems. I hope I'm not pregnant. My wife would be very suprised
Coolcats, if you are headed to Disney, stay away from the Mission to Mars ride. I don't usually suffer from motion sickness, but after riding on that I had to lie on a park bench for almost an hour until the nausea passed.

I think you mean Mission:Space at Epcot?
That ride had the same effect on me and I am not usually prone to motion sickness.
After the roller coaster when you are feeling motion sick, focus on a point in the distance and hop up and down in place a few times, keeping your focus on that distant point. It will reset your inner ear. Also, try taking ginger pills about a half-hour ahead of time, they help a lot. Avoid rides that give an illusion of movement without physically moving you.
