Does anyone here use soft disposable contact lenses that you replace every 30 days? And if so, have you had any health problems with these? Specifically any eye infections that seem to appear almost the same day that you start using a new pair? I was switched to soft disposables from gas permeables in April and at first all was okay but in the last 2 months I've had to dispose of 4 pairs due to reoccurring conjunctivitis (pink-eye).

I've used antibiotic drops, boil-washed everything that comes into contact with my face, stopped using my usual brand of eye make-up and lotions and worn my glasses until the infection goes away. When I put in new lenses, fresh from the sealed pack, things are okay at first but as the day goes on, my eyes feel increasingly itchy and uncomfortable. Does anyone know of any known problems with certain brands of disposable contacts? The brand that I have Bausch & Lomb PureVision.

At this rate I'll go thro my 12-month supply before the end of the year and be stuck for months without being able to order new ones.

Nope, never even after over 20 years of wearing contacts.

Mine are CibaVision Focus Toric if that's any help.

Seeing the opthalmologist tomorrow morning - beginning to think I'm allergic to the damn things. Honestly, I haven't had this level of problems with my lenses in over 20 years!

I had what I thought was an issue with soft disposables lenses (Acuvue Oasys, a silicon hydrogel type lens similar to PureVision) but eventually figured out that it was actually the contact lens solution that was causing problems for both myself and my husband although it was way worse for me. We were using the Opti-free Replenish that the eye doctor gave us with our lenses and didn't even think about it as we had previously used a slightly different Opti-free formula for years with no issues. We switched to Clear Care and now we love our lenses again.

I'd suspect the disinfecting solutions, too. I wore soft disposables for years, but unless I used Clear Care (previously Aosept), a hydrogen peroxide based disinfecting solution, I had all sorts of problems.

ditto tilli and elise. I had similar problems periodically until I switched to Clear Care. Costs a bit more but I haven't had any problems since.

In the last month I've been having problems wearing the AcuVue Oasys (2 week) lens. I think it's because of my allergies. I searched and found this thread and thought,
"Hey, maybe it's the solution I'm using."

I have about 5 different bottles of solutions (mostly freebies I received in the mail). So I went to the medicine cabinet to see what brand I'm using thinking I'll switch to a different brand.
The solution I'm using is not solution at all. It's... Eye Wash.
