Have you ever had your appendix taken out?

I had mine taken out when I was six years of age,that was back in Spain.My doctor was on vacation.technology wasn't great.according to my mom.I almost died.I have a visible long scar. I always wondered if it affected my weight.I am always 15 pounds above my normal weight.I eat healthy,anyone with same problem?

Phew! Things have sure changed since I had my appendix removed in 1987. I was told not to lift anything for six weeks.

I didn't experience the classic symptoms, either. I thought I had food poisoning from some Chinese food I had eaten. After a sleepless night I drove myself to the emergency room (1/2 mile away). This happened the day before I was to start a new job. Bad timing.

If the doctor said not to lift, don't lift. Good idea from someone else here about putting the baby on the floor and doing everything on that level (feeding, sleeping, etc.)

umograd83 - lol,,, while I was laying there in the ER, of course your mind wanders and wonders as to the what's and why's... me, during the previous day's adventures, on the way up to the "Grand Canyon of PA", I had stopped at a spring where an elderly couple where filling their water jugs from the source; talked w/ them a bit, they said that they drink that water all the time, and that its tested... well, of course, I just had to take a sip, a small one mind you, but still, that did go through my mind... wondering if had got some bug from there or not. Tainted food also went through my thoughts - the hotel had the same breakfast [flat sausage and eggs] two days in a row, which was unusual... while laying there, I could taste that sausage..
