Warning! Check Out New Doctors Before Going (hernia, surgeon, medical)

Yesterday I was at our local urgent care center for terrible hip/leg pain. I was diagnosed with Sciatica, which I pretty much expected considering my history of herniated discs. Anyway, they referred me to a local orthopedic surgeon advising me to be seen within 3 days.

Today I called and made an appointment with this doctor for Wednesday. After doing that I decided to do some googling on him. I found several references to some issues regarding his handling of female patients. After digging a bit further I found the actual reprimand and sanctions against him made by the Texas State Medical Board! He is currently required to take classes in ethics and professional boundaries, be supervised when alone with female patients, has been fined, and is still under investigation.

Phew Glad I checked!

Wow. Cool. Interesting.
The internet has both positives and negatives but the fact that you can, in a relatively shorty time, google an m.d. (or anyone) and find that kind of important information is great.

Never forget that the clown who skates through medical school and just barely passes is as much a doctor as the honor graduate. He may not be as good, but he's still a doctor.

Somebody has to graduate last in every class. It may be the one you're going to see!
