Americans don't really do to well with the whole giving back thing. Also speaking of giving back land me and my friend we discussing hawaii and how it became our terrirtory. Kinda funny I see in 1993 we apologized for how we took it, but had no intention of giving it back, kinda interesting. We apologize for how we took it, admit we took it but still say its ours. So u think we are gonna give something back we actually paid for? Nope.

Hey, come on. We gave the Philippines back to the Marcos family after we slaughtered millions of Filipinos. We could trust Marcos to pick up where we left off. We even gave Cuba back to the Batista-led mafia.
Don't foregtthat we are goigto return the southwest to Mexico too.
Who then can return it to Spanish control, followed by the Spaniards returning it to the Comanches who can then give it back to the Kiowas...and if the Kiowas can remember who they murdered when they arrived, they can give it back to them.
We could take it off what they owe us????

According to a New York Times article, in 1947 the U.S. asked the Soviet Union to pay $1.3 billion as settlement of its Lend-Lease debt. The Soviet Union made a counter-offer to repay just $170 million.
No repayment at all actually occurred until the Soviets agreed in 1972 to pay $722 million in installments through to 2001. The first Soviet “repayment” installment actually took the form of a deal to buy $750 million in grain from the U.S. But most of the debt remained unpaid when the USSR ceased to exist.
The Russian Federation inherited the debt from the Soviet Union. In the year 2000, the Russian Federation acknowledged $600 million as still owed to the USA from WW2 L-L accounts

Is it Respectfully yours Blushed Shaper.
If you make that argument, it actually becomes moot since it wasn't Russia's land to sell in the first place.
The salient fact is that if your country takes over another one, or a part of one, by any means, it's yours until somebody takes it away from you. This has always been the case, and still is. Alaska is ours, until somebody takes it away.
Why Russia is obliged to return much of Karelia and other border regions to Finland: it stole them. The Finns' claim is a lot more valid.
Whoops...I'll bet the OP wasn't thinking about that when he started this thread!
