What part of Canada is located further south than the northernmost part of California?
Pelee Point in Ontario juts into Lake Erie, and I think encroaches below the 42nd parallel.

That's right! However, in 2000, Middle island, a few miles south of Pelee Point was acquired by Canada from Ohio. So I guess there's a new and improved correct answer as well.

mike0421,

You are correct. Pelee Pt appears to be 2 or 3 miles below the 42 parallel. Canada's Pelee Island is even further south by perhaps 10 miles. It definitely falls below the level of the Northern California border. Something I learned today: The 42 parallel also delineates the border between several states, including New York State and Pennsylvania.

Here is a geographical/historical question on a fairly recent event:

Where is the geographic location of the underground Doomsday Seed Vault, which houses packets of seeds collected from around the world in case of a global catastrophic event? By the way, this was funded largely by one country.

Lt Dan

You are on the right track with Norway. The island group was incorporated by Norway in the 1920s. Allied troops took possession of it in WWII to prevent the German Army from occupying it.
