Hi, I hope this is the correct forum for my question; thought it would do better here than under the Books forum (please tell me if I'm wrong). Am looking for an excellent book on the Bronze Age Minoan civilization. Archaeology, history, art, architecture, culture, men and women, all of it. A book not too pedantic and dry, but not too simplified and superficial. Any suggestions? Thanks!
Thanks for the link, Grandstander. I'd already looked on Amazon and saw that quite a few of these books received good reviews. However, with so many to choose from on Amazon, I wondered if anyone here knew how I might choose the "best" (which is, I realize, somewhat subjective).

I have not read any of the books, nor do I have a familiarity with the subject, so I'm not qualified to provide an endorsement.
Not that familiar with them but Lionel Caisson's The Ancient Mariners has some context of them in the Mediterranean economy and colonization worth a read. It's a good book to have around, while you're looking for more detail.
As a suggestion, scanning the bibliographies and footnotes of books that discuss them but aren't necessarily focused on them will provide you with valuable sources, i.e. books and articles, as well.

This is a very good technique which may make the OP interested in Martin P Nilsson's, Minoan and Mycenaean Religion and its influence on Hellenic world.
